Bruichladdich Open Day 29th May
  Feis
Ile 2005
An other
amazingly sunny, fun day – the best festival day yet! 1000 people visited the
distillery through out the day and took part in the various
activities or just came to enjoy the
craic.
There was a Spot The Barley Competition,
Jim’s Master Class (now that’s what I call a Master Class!) The Lord
Lieutenant Kenneth MacKinnon presented Sir John Mactaggart,
the Chairman of Bruichladdich with the Queen’s Award and hoisted the flag to the
sound of the pipes. Bruichladdich Cocktails (PinacoLaddie)
were served, The Malt Bar Library was available for visitors to try older
bottlings of The Laddie and Murray McDavid bottlings. The new Bruichladdich
T-Shirts went on sale, a total of eight Valinches
were available to buy including The Purist and The Queen’s Award. Norma played,
Fraser’s band kept up a magnificent lively pace all afternoon, culminating
in the now traditionally huge “Strip the Willow”
(and no, the new yellow markings on the courtyard floor are not an aid) and
finally a ginormous
Auld Lang Syne that occupied the whole of the
courtyard. What a cracking day!
If you were not able to come and join in,
and are thinking about getting over next year for the festival,
I strongly urge you to book your accommodation NOW for next year –
Bruichladdich Day will be Sunday 28th May - as there are limited bed
spaces available on the island and they are reserved well in advance.
